Senior Data Scientist II - Personalization

Careem is seeking a technical lead to join the Personalization team within their Data Science organization in Dubai, UAE. The role focuses on owning hyper-personalization use cases across Food, Quik, and Shops by building real-time, cross-vertical recommendation and ranking systems. Candidates will push the state of the art using graph-based retrieval, transformer architectures, and streaming learning.

• 7-10 years of experience in data mining, predictive modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, and Big Data methodologies
• Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline such as Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science
• Solid experience with deep learning techniques including attention mechanisms, retrieval models, and transformer-based architectures applied to ranking or recommendation problems
• 2-4 years of industry experience in personalization, recommendation, or search
• Proficiency and demonstrated experience in Python, SQL, Spark, and Hive
• Demonstrated experience with database technologies such as Hadoop, BigQuery, Amazon EMR, Hive, Oracle, SAP, DB2, Teradata, MS SQL Server, or MySQL
• Demonstrated experience with business intelligence and visualization tools like Tableau, MicroStrategy, ChartIO, or Qlik
• Solid knowledge of A/B testing methodology, classical ML, and deep learning
• Strong problem-solving and coding skills

An experienced quantitative professional with a strong background in machine learning, recommendations, and search systems who wants to build scalable AI infrastructure at a regional scale.
