About the role

Gusto is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Manager to lead its Employee Relations team in Denver, CO, on a hybrid basis. The role involves managing a team of Employee Relations Partners, overseeing complex workplace investigations, and partnering with Legal, People Partners, and business leaders on high-risk employee matters. Candidates should have a background in HR or employee relations, a commitment to fair and consistent practices, and an AI-native mindset to support the company's scaling technology environment.

Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field (advanced degree or JD is a plus)
  • 7-10+ years of progressive HR or Employee Relations experience, including direct ownership of ER casework and leading or supervising a team
  • Deep knowledge of employment law such as EEOC, ADA, FMLA, and FLSA
  • Experience conducting employee investigations including interviewing, assessing facts, and documenting findings
  • Strong data literacy to use case trends and ER metrics for proactive recommendations
  • Experience operating in a fast-scaling technology company with distributed or hybrid team dynamics
  • Ability to work from the Denver office on designated hybrid days approximately 2-3 days per week
