Payment Operations Manager

Gusto is seeking a Payment Operations Manager to lead a team of Payment Operations Analysts and own the health of payment operations end to end. In this role, you will manage bank and payment partner relationships, operate compliance programs, drive incident response, and partner with Engineering and Product. The position is hybrid with locations in New York, NY and San Francisco, CA.

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in payment operations, banking operations, or treasury operations, including direct ownership of escalations, partner issues, or ticket queues
• 2+ years directly managing a team
• Deep working knowledge of domestic payment rails (ACH/Nacha, wires, RTP)
• Experience managing the operational side of a bank or payment partner relationship
• Track record of operating within a compliance program such as Nacha Risk Self-Assessment, SOC 1, or unclaimed property
• Strong people leadership with experience hiring, coaching, and managing performance for operational ICs or analysts
• AI-fluent with an expectation to model and encourage the use of AI tools across the team

An experienced operations leader with a background in payment, banking, or treasury operations who excels at both hands-on ticket resolution and team management. Ideal candidates bring strong compliance knowledge, people leadership skills, and AI fluency.
