Staff Software Engineer, Benefit Renewals

Gusto is hiring a Staff Software Engineer for the Benefits Renewals team to build workflows that guide employers and employees through benefits renewals. This role operates across the full product lifecycle, shaping features from early spec and design through to launch and iteration. The position involves scaling one of the largest Ruby on Rails and Javascript/React applications in the world.

• 8+ years of software development experience
• Experience owning multi-quarter projects that solve complex engineering problems and make measurable customer impact at scale
• Experience driving large, cross-functional projects end-to-end through ambiguity, scoping, sequencing, and unblocking
• Experience with implementing A/B tests or experimentation
• Experience leveraging AI tools or systems to accelerate development, improve testing, and deliver new product capabilities
• Travel to Gusto's office for onboarding is required

An experienced software engineer with a background in scaling large applications, driving cross-functional projects through ambiguity, mentoring peers, and engaging with emerging AI tools and frameworks.
