Database Support Engineer (Japanese Speaking)

Supabase is seeking an experienced, bilingual Japanese and English speaking Database Support Engineer to join their remote support team in APAC. The role involves helping developers resolve complex issues across Postgres, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, and client libraries while collaborating closely with customers and engineering.

• 6+ years in technical support, backend engineering, SRE, or similar
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL internals including autovacuum behavior, WAL growth, long-running transactions, and table bloat
• Strong skills in high-performance SQL and query optimization
• Experience troubleshooting complex setups including multi-tenant schema patterns
• Ability to debug edge functions and understand distributed system behavior
• Experience handling data migration issues such as pg_dump/restore, schema drift, and failed migrations
• Hands-on experience with cloud hosting providers like AWS
• Comfortable in terminal and Linux environments
• Fluent bilingual Japanese and English speaker
• Experience supporting complex technical products in Japanese with native speakers
• Able to work during Japan business hours
