Data Director, Payments

Monzo is seeking a Data Director in Payments to join their centralized yet embedded Data discipline. In this leadership role, you will co-drive payments strategy, set the data strategy, and scale a high-performing full stack data team to support global expansion and resilient banking platforms.

• Experience driving payments innovation and product strategy forward in a fast-growing business
• Combine deep Data expertise with strong product and commercial judgement
• Ability to move comfortably from detailed metrics or architecture discussions to customer strategy, pricing, and business outcomes
• Empathetic people leadership experience building trust, raising the performance bar, and retaining talent
• Experience growing and leading a full stack data team including individual contributors and managers across Data Science, Analytics Engineering, Machine Learning Engineering, and Analytics
• Experience collaborating with senior cross-functional stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and risk/control functions

An experienced data leader and people manager who is excited about solving tough, ambiguous business problems with analytical rigour, commercial viability, and execution effectiveness.
