Staff Data Scientist

Monzo is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join their team as a senior individual contributor in London, Barcelona, or via UK remote working. You will lead strategically important, business-critical data initiatives, combine deep technical expertise with commercial judgment, and help shape data strategy across domains such as Borrowing, Growth, Payments, Fincrime, Wealth, or Core.

• Shape and lead the data strategy for a large domain or collective
• Identify, frame and lead strategically important problems with ambiguous paths and organizational complexity
• Partner with senior leaders across product, engineering, ML, design, research, risk and operations
• Establish measurement strategies and metric maps connecting customer behavior and business outcomes
• Set and evolve best practices for experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, optimization, and decision science
• Remain hands-on with exploring complex data, designing analyses, building models, and writing SQL and Python
• Steward critical data products and initiatives end-to-end
• Coach and mentor data scientists and analytics engineers to build sustainable capability

An experienced practitioner with an exceptional track record of leading complex data science work from ambiguous problem framing to measurable outcomes, who can influence senior leaders and maintain a high bar for analytical quality.
